Getting a Masters Degree is something that has lived on my to do list for three years now. This week I take my first steps on this 2 year adventure. While I wouldn't say I'm nervous, I have to admit to experiencing some anxiety in the weeks leading up to our first week of class. As I completed my assignments for week one and reflected on the learning I can honestly say I'm ready to do this.
Adding to the Teacher Toolkit
We utilized Flipgrid, one of my favorite ed tech tools, in one of my classes this week. Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers the opportunity to create and host video blogs in a safe online environment. Our ISD’s have spent so much time focused on assessments and leveraging tools like Flipgrid for formative assessments that I forgot how useful it is for building community. Which is exactly how we used it in class. I completed my introduction, then watched the responses of my classmates. As I dove into their introductions I thought "I'll watch one or two and move on." It didn't happen that way. I watched everyone's responses, feeling excited to join such a skilled community. All students need to experience a sense of community to feel safe in their learning environment, I added this reflection on an already great tool to my imaginary teacher toolkit. This is going to be a most excellent adventure!
